Moab Memorial Day Weekend

We had such a fun last minute getaway to Moab over Memorial Day weekend. When the weather wasn't cooperating for us to go up to our cabin, we had to come up with new plans. Thanks Corey and Nancy for making it all possible.

Trip favorites:
Dead Horse Point, Grand View Overlook hike, Upheaval Dome, off-roading in the red truck, Pasta Jays, arts festival, being parked in traffic in S.F. canyon for 2 hours (okay that wasn't really a favorite), Delicate Arch, "Nanny Goat, Billie Jane, & Tyler Turtle", Sand Dune Arch, Buck's, Ty calling the trail markers "cemeteries" (kudos to his teachers for talking to the kids about Memorial Day), biking Slick Rock (except for the crashing part :) sorry dad), swimming, Kate being "full of swimming", Windows primitive trail, Park Avenue, pizza, & being in a beautiful place with people we love. We can't wait to go back.

So pretty it looks fake

I just love this picture at Dead Horse Point. It looks like he is sitting in front of a picture or screen instead of at the actual overlook.

Girls Luch @ Cheesecake Factory

It was so much fun to have lunch with the Nance, Nats, the Groesbecks and Nana. Natalie and Michelle were born just one day apart 23 years ago and have always called themselves twin cousins. It was fun for us to get together for a delicious lunch. I can't believe that it was my first time going to the Cheesecake Factory in Salt Lake. We always go when we are in Cali or Vegas, but now that I have remembered how wonderful all the food and, of course, the cheesecake is I will have to go more often. Thanks girls, it was fun to catch up.

Lake Powell in May... Best Kept Secret

We had such a wonderful week in Powell with the Miles clan. May is the best time to go to get in some great skiing... that is if you aren't afraid of a little cold water. We saw a few other boats, but not a single person get in the water besides our group. I mean I skied on glass in the channel in the middle of the day. It was so nice to have nice water anytime. The kids didn't seem to mind the cold at all and Mikey got his hands on sand for the first time so he was in heaven. Trip favorites: boating, Carcassonne, movies on a projector shone on a sheet up on top of the boat, reading (however whoever said that Eat, Pray, Love was a great book, I would like to pick a bone with them- don't waste your time with it), kiddie pool, food, and simply relaxing with family. It was a wonderful trip... I'm just sad that it will be another year until we go back.

6 MONTHS

Weight 17.7 oz (47th percentile)
Height 27.5 in (80th percentile)
Head circ 17.75 in (77th percentile)

Michael is so much fun these days. He will smile for anyone who will talk to him. He loves playing with his feet, sitting up, jumping in his jumpy seat, and talking. He is turning into quite the blondie and has already had a few haircuts. He is growing like a weed these days, even with his acid reflux. His Nanny always says "he's just right for a baby elephant". He also loves crumpling up paper and making noise when it is too quiet in sacrament.

I can sit up..........maybe not.

Michael loves sitting up now but he eventually gets too excited or reaches too far and crashes. It's fun because every day he seems to get better at it. Next up is crawling.

Jazz Fans

Michael got to go to his first Jazz Game last week and absolutely loved it... talk about over stimulation. He spent as much time watching the lights and the other fans as he did the game. There were too many fun things going on. You gotta start 'em young.

Have an elk

Well we finally got Johnn's elk mounted up in our garage... yes that's right it didn't end up in my front room like Johnn wanted. He has a temporary home for now until the weather is nice enough for us to get him up to the cabin.

Easter Egg Hunt

Did it seem too cold for Easter this year for anyone else? Good thing it won't be this early again for another 200+ years.

Someone my size

When I was at my neighbors house their little dog Harley was intrigued with Michael. They were so cute. Mikey fell asleep in his car seat and I looked over and Harley had curled up on his lap. It was so cute, but he moved before I could get a picture of it.

5 Months Old

Michael is such a fun baby. He is finally sleeping through the night and putting himself to sleep. His loves giving kisses, smacking his lips, playing with his feet, cooing, riding in his jogger, sucking his thumb, and hot tubbing. We feel truly blessed to have him in our lives.

Ski Day

Thanks Anu for hooking us up with free ski passes and babysitting. You are the best. We had such a nice ski day at Park City. It is the only time we made it up this year... it's amazing how having a baby will do that to you. Thanks for making it happen.

My 4 Month Valentine

Mikey turned 4 months old on Valentines Day this year.
Weight 15 lbs. 6 oz. (59th percentile)
Height 25 3/4 in. (81st percentile)
Head Circumference 17 in. (74th percentile)

Mikey used to hate being on his tummy with his acid reflux, but lately he loves it. He is great at tucking his legs up underneath him, but can't quite figure out the arms to be able to crawl. He loves to smile and giggle.

Fun in the snow

We had a blast at the cabin this weekend. Thanks to the snow cat, we can now get the kids up to the cabin in the winter. This was Mikey's second trip to the cabin already and he is only 4 months old. The cabin has been a very special place for Johnn and I so we are very excited to share the winter fun.

Fredricks in the back of the snow cat. It's a long, slow ride to the cabin, but it's the only way to get there. Plus the snow cat grooms great sledding hills and the snowmobiles are great for pulling you back up.

This moose hung around the entire weekend. The boys went out and chased him a little, but they felt bad for him trying to run away in the deep snow. The drifts were over 8 feet in places.
